@Kyle Fitzpatrick

I would check out the Network tab here on Bigger Pockets and look in the Events section for local meetups in your area, as well as a quick google search for real estate investing clubs near Bloomington.

I am a new investor myself and just attended my first Chicago Creative Investing Association meeting, and got to hear @George Skidis speak about investments and his extensive knowledge of insurance regarding real estate.  It was the first organized meetup I have been to and was informative and motivating.

I know that you're not in the Chicago area, but I'm sure there are some local investors down near you who meet up at restaurants or other establishments to network and interact.

You could also post in the forums and see if there are any BP members near you, and possibly start a new meet up!

And you may have thought of this stuff already, but just wanted to throw some ideas out there! Best of luck!

Lately I have been driving for dollars near my current residence in the western suburbs of Chicago, but having a hard time finding distressed properties.  (Or maybe my criteria is too strict.)   Trying to determine if it would be more cost effective to expand my driving area, and spend more on gas,  or invest in some absentee owner lists and start mailing instead.

Appreciate any tips or stories from experienced investors! Thanks!

Anyone else having trouble connecting to tonights webinar?

I think it may be on the GoToMeeting server end, but just wanted to see if it was me.

@Jorge P.

That's a nice way to end the year!  Networking clearly pays off!

Great work Jorge

Wow, thank you all so much for the incredible responses and information!  I really appreciate all the insight.  This community is awesome! :)

I will start doing  a bit of research on the schools mentioned and decide on one that lines up with my schedule and goals.  Again, thank you all so much for the input!

Thanks for the input George. I am planning on attending a couple of real estate clubs in my area in hopes of connecting with some agents/investors.  Thanks again!

Good morning BP!

I am relatively new to Real Estate Investing, and have been devouring podcasts and books on the subject.  Really enjoy the community and forums here on Bigger Pockets.

Looking to get my real estate license here in Illinois.  I have a question for fellow agents and realtors in the state regarding the educational requirements to obtain a license.  I am considering going to my local community college for classes (College of Dupage,) but also considering online coursework.

Does anyone have experience with online classes for an Illinois Real Estate License, and a good company they would recommend?  I really appreciate any insight!

Thanks,

Lucas Haack
