Guys, I have removed and replaced drywall for 2 of the 4 walls of a bathroom I'm working on (removed to install the tub) in Maryland.  The other two walls are in fine condition (need a patch or two only.

If I sand the old walls, when I paint the whole room, will the old walls look different from the new drywall walls?  Would you recommend that I consider replacing drywall to provide a consistent finish?

Thanks for the feedback.

Post: Selling back appliances

I just bought a house in Laurel, MD with a brand new, never used white electric range.  I'm guessing the seller bought it from Home Depot before selling the house.

I don't want it and have already replaced it with a stainless steel model.  What's the best way for me to get money back for this appliance?

-"Return" it to Home Depot?  (I don't even know if they bought it there).
-Sell it on Craigslist?
-Sell it to a second-hand appliance shop?
-Sell it on BP?

Just trying to get max return with minimum hassle.

UPDATE:

Outside of BP, I was referred to Sandy Spring Inspection Services.  They did a great job and were very knowledgeable.  After looking at the house, he saved me $300 bucks by recommending against a his chimney inspection (his visual convinced him there were no problems) and his radon inspection (he recommended I just buy my own kit).

I'd recommend them.

I want to hear everyone's opinion here.  Under what circumstances do you guys order a survey of your property and when do you not?

Are there any low cost strategies that you use to minimize risk without ordering the survey?

Do you guys always order surveys for properties you buy?  I'm buying (starting out) in neighborhoods that are already fenced, and frankly I don't care if the fence is off a few inches.  Interested to hear if you think this is always necessary.

@Will Barnard @J Scott , since this post about a year ago, have either of you worked with Cabinets to Go? I'm looking into them here in Maryland and would love a review or similar recommendation.

Does anybody have a recommended home inspector that'll work in the Laurel, Maryland / Howard County area (North of Washington D.C. 20 minutes).

I've searched old forums and haven't seen any suggestions for this area.

I'll also need a termite inspection - I was planning on just calling Terminix. Is that a decent plan?
