@Nick Belsky

I am currently in the process of moving funds into my US based bank account, but the process is slow going because my host country hates having money leave. Do you have any recommended lenders. I think I may have found one, but I won't know for sure until I get my down payment wired into my US bank account.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am going to be reaching out to a few portfolio lenders in my target area and see what my options are.

Hello everyone,

I am a US citizen who lives and earns my income outside of the United States. I am working on starting my real estate investment path but I have run into a snag related to lending and mortgages. I have tried applying with a few different banks but have run into the same problem: They don't want to lend to me because my income is not from the US and I am not issued a w2. I have money saved for a down payment and more saved to use as proof of funds.I want to note that I have been filing my taxes in the US for the past 4 years and I also have a proof of income statement from my current employer. I also have my pay slips from my previous employer along with 1 years worth of tax information from my current host county.

If any of you have been in this situation before or have any advice how to proceed I would love to hear it.

Thanks

Hello BP,

My name is Max and I am 28 years old. I am now looking to start my real estate journey to provide a good life for myself and my wife when we move back to the United States.

The areas I am interested in starting are the Lake County/Kenosha areas of Illinois and Wisconsin. My plan is to start with a house hack. This will give me the chance to buy my first property while being able to reconnect with my friends and family who I have not seen for years.

My goals are to be able to create enough cash-flow to provide a good life for my wife and any future children we may have. I want to be able to be involved in their lives and for us to have the ability to travel and have new experiences without being tied down to a 9-5.

A fun fact about myself is that I have been living in China for the last 5 years. It is here where I met my wife and we have had the privilege to travel to different places in South East Asia while I have still been able to save for the future.

I am looking forwards to connecting with all of you!

Max

@Charles Carillo

Hey, thanks for your reply. I am unsure if I am considered a foreign investor because I am a US citizen and still file my taxes in the States. However, those connections could still help in the future, so I would be happy to take down their information.

Hello BP,

I am looking to get started in real estate, but I am a but unsure how to start. I have been watching bigger pockets on youtube and listening to the real estate rookie podcast. I have a general idea for how to start, by my concern is that I am currently working and living abroad. I am unsure if I should start out by putting 20% down and buying a rent ready multi-family or should I wait until I move back to the US so I can house hack. Once I move home in about a year, I will have more capital to invest, but for now I still have some capital saved. I am also wondering if I am bankable? I work for a foreign company but I still file taxes in the United States.

Thanks for the advice!
