There are fortunes to be made in assembling for redevelopment.  How big are the lots?  How big are the houses currently on both lots?

An economist would say loss of liquidity, unless it was a bad investment.

Large enough equity and reserves solve every issue except how long you have to hold the property before you can cash out.

Smart investors know down turns mean long turn opportunities.

If your brother in law needs help, you might want to consider it.  Otherwise, the 5% is below market rates.

Working together is one of the main ways families become wealthy.

The first step would of course be to talk to the spouse(s) that make you brothers in law.

This is a fairly good result when you are dealing with auction.com.

Owning a good web domain does not make a company competent.

@Joseph M.   I am not sure where the money will go.  I just know it is going.  The Russians are leaving the very high end market.  That is not as much of a concern for most people on Biggerpockets.  Chinese investors are leaving the $200,000-$400,000 price range in North Texas.  That is having more of an impact.  As I have mentioned before some subdivisions in North Texas have 20+% homes owned by Chinese investors.

While this issue has been covered in the media, I noticed it before that.  It started here about two months ago when the average time on market was less that 30 days and the prices of listings started going down.  That is always a red flag.  So I decided to look up the sellers and all the players pushing the prices down were Chinese investors.  It has continued ever since.  Some of their listings say "Priced for quick sell".  Considering they do not have mortgages to be behind on, there is something else driving the change.

In Greece, I was talking about real estate.  I would ABSOLUTELY suggest finding a reputable Greek company to partner with.

I would not say this is another 2007.  There are some changes happening in the market but the causes are completely different.

I will just ignore the politics but the economics are simple.

Direct foreign investment into the US real estate market has fallen off a cliff.

The Fed is mostly concerned with preventing hyper inflation so they are about to really ramp up interest rates.

Chinese and Russian investors are taking profits and then taking their money out of the US.

The good news...  Greece looks like a good investment long term.

Also if there is a major price correction here there will be huge opportunities.

@James M Smith    In general... military discounts would have a disparate impact against women because the military has historically discriminated against women and less than 20% of military personnel are women.  If a state had a law that covered disparate impacts and homosexuals that would also apply.

It looks like the next step in the Amazon HQ2 saga will be for a smaller list of final finalists (five or less)  to get their incentive packages approved.  So far none of the incentives have gotten officially approved because they are still secret.

Everyone needs to start watching the postings of the public meeting agendas.
