@Nathan Olds I imagine it will take some time for the word to get out. But if you are ever in the area on the fourth Thursday of the month it would be great if you could stop by. I am interested in investing in the Lawrence area as well.

I have seen several posts from people in the Topeka and Lawrence area looking for investor networking opportunities closer to home. I, like many of you could not find one. So I created one. Please feel free to look up The Northeast Kansas Real Estate Investors Club on Facebook.

The first meeting will be May 24th 2018. Meetings will be held the fourth Thursday of each month from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Norsemen Brewing Company, 830 N Kansas Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.  There is no agenda as of yet and I would like for the meetings to be somewhat informal but with enough suggestions and volunteers, that could change. I look forward to seeing you there!

Sheldon,

Have you attempted to settle with any of your creditors? If the bills are of the age that you say they may be willing to negotiate. Call the collection agency and tell them "I can pay x amount. I already have an appointment with a bankruptcy attorney so you can have x or nothing." if they agree to the settlement make sure you get the agreement in writing that you are settling the account for x dollars. Don't send anything until you get the written agreement.

Welcome Niki!

I am still amazed at the wealth of knowledge and information available here but more importantly the number of great people willing to help. Good luck to you.

Thanks Etienne. You are absolutly right!

My immediate goals are establishing my business and getting things organized. A partner and I are looking at one deal now but we both are hesitant to rush in as there are some possible foundation issues. Probably not the best start for a couple of newbies.

Are you investing in the Topeka area?

Hello Bigger Pockets!!

I am new to real estate investing but i have had an interest for a long time. Too long some would say. I started listening to the Bigger Pockets Podcasts and realize I should have started years ago. I am still learning and putting things in place that will give me a solid foundation for future growth.

I am a CPA so when it comes to real estate, the numbers don't scare me but crumbling foundations and leaky roofs do.

I am interested in flipping in the Topeka, Lawrence and eventually Kansas City area for now with the intention of moving to buy and hold both SFR and multi-families in 2 years. I currently work a full-time job with a 2 hour commute each day. I am looking to create enough passive income to leave that world behind.

I know Bigger Pockets is a great place to meet and network and I am looking forward to making new connections.

Michael
