Hi @Leo Furest very interesting thread. I'm also considering investing from abroad. Would you mind sending me the option proposed to @Ryan Pham.

@Andrew Kerr nap boule. Thank you for the tip. I'm a US citizen, hoping it helps with financing. Open a purchasing business in the States to prove some sort of US income, but was just told by my tax advisor last week that since my clients are in Haiti the income might be considered as foreign. Good thing that we brought that up i hope a lawyer reading this might confirm or deny that fact. If it is true i'll probably have to close the LLC since it will have no purpose.

Hi ,

I currently live abroad and am looking into purchase a Duplex in Orlando, FL to kind of house hack. Trying to establish a vacation/home in the US and we really liked Orlando on our last visit this New Year. I would rent one unit and keep the other one as the family go to place in the US. I'm not very familiar with the city other that what i have reasearch and it seems the duplexes are not to common on the realtor sites. I've seen a few forum where agents say they have some multi family in their porfolio. Can anyone guide me on looking a good property? I'll willing to come for a tour of the city. I will also need help with financing since i leave abroad i know it might be more complicated than usual. Hope i can start a good thread here.

Thank you Pyrrah. I'm still in the research phase and am seriously considering the Chicago area. I found a company called Mack Companies that seems pretty solid but am still crushing the numbers. Roberto , how are you doing?

@Tom Ott

For now I'm looking for good cash flow and appreciation as a plus. In terms of choosing the market how would you suggest i go about it. Is general info online regarding vacancy rate, ratio of owned vs rented properties enough? I'm looking to buy a property in the 70K range to start, would i be able to get one neighborhood that can attract reliable tenants?

Hi All,

I joined BP a few days ago and been actively browsing the site to find others in my situation. Although i found a lot of members investing from abroad, i haven't found all the answers that i'm looking for and decided to start this discussion to describe my situation and hopefully start relationships with other members who would be able to guide me and others in my venture.

I am an American citizen and have been living abroad for the past seven years. I had owned a primary house in NY that we sold last December so have a little experience on how the buying and selling of a property is done. However, need to learn a lot about REI. My goal is to buy my first rental property by mid 2017, currently saving the funds for that and should be ready my next summer. It might seem a long way ahead but i decided to start my education on this business as soon as possible and hopefully build my team to jump in as soon as I'm financially ready.

My short terms goals for the coming year:

1) Learn about the REI business.

2) Choose the best market to start in ( since I'm abroad and  have no specific location in the US that i call home, any help would be appreciated with this process)

3) Build my team: lawyer, accountant, agent, mortgage broker, PM etc

4) Develop relationship with other BP members for mutual supports.

Oh from what i know so far, I'm interested to learn about Turn Key properties. I think they will fit me best.

I'm currently running the daily operations of a well drilling company in Haiti and am willing to share my technical knowledge to investors that might have question regarding their water wells on property.

Hope this will start a fruitful discussion.

Thanks to all.
