Current car: Kia Sportage 2011; let my girlfriend pick it...

Dream car: 2012 Nissan GTR, it seems obtainable for me one day, unlike a super car...

J Scott and Bill Gulley I think J Scott is right on the prostitution judgments and one of the major problems with your assumptions (Bill) would be that you think if prostitution was legalized it would be the same. That couldn't be true. If prostitution was legalized it would be regulated to be safer and it would be in a business location, not on a street and then a motel or alley way. There would be fellow women around and also a boss, which may be a girl or guy and presumably a "bouncer" or some kind of security. It would be like a strip club but instead you can "get more"... Plus there would probably be STD check/reports and condom requirements. So I'm sorry, but keeping it illegal drives the profession underground and causes all these bad things you don't want to happen.

I'm on your side, but you're not.

As I said previously, i'm all for anyone owning any weapon within their home that can't hurt anyone outside the boundaries of their home.

True conservatives believe the government should stay out of our homes as long as we're not infringing on the rights of others. Where they have the potential to infringe the rights of others, i'm all for regulation.

Oh... Great! I thought you were appealing to the war on drugs :) It's weird that I can't find much anyone who thinks the war on drugs is any good and yet, the government loves it.

And I agree with you on the other things like prostitution, suicide and the whole idea of we should be able to do what we want with our bodies as long as we don't infringe on others.

Damn, that's crazy! I see your point though, it's more performance building than building a really nice house. Thanks.

Well personally for me it's finding a good deal. Mind you, I'm still looking for my first deal ever so maybe it's just my inexperience.

In Portugal people can freely access drug treatment programs. This is probably the reason things have worked out so well for that country.

Food for thought: If you are a prisoner you have a %25 chance of residing in the united states. The US has %5 of the world population %25 of the world prison population.

Ahhh precisely what I was going to bring up (Portugal)! Nice! Another thing to think of is when people say, "legalization would result in increased use" my rebuttal is this:

"If drugs were legalized today, would you start doing them?"

And the answer is always no. And that includes all their family. It's only the "stranger" who's going to go and do drugs, but certainly not themselves or their family. Isn't this unfair?

Come on, there has to be a nay sayer out there to legalization, I'd love to hear a persuasive counter argument! :)

Is there any real difference when flipping muti-family units? I happened to come across a person selling 3 duplexes and I'm wondering, as I've never flipped or studied duplexes, if there's any special things to consider for duplexes? Especially if it relates to money!

Also, although I want to flip, if I wanted to rehab and hold these duplexes (if they generated cashflow), what financing options should I look at considering I'm currently getting funded through HML's for fix and flips. So you know... I don't have the credentials for a traditional loan for three (CHEAP) duplexes and I couldn't afford an HML loan on it as the terms are really short and the balloon payment at the end of 1 year, or even 5, would just result in a repossession of the duplexes...

Thanks for sharing you wisdom!

So I was reading the NUTS WITH GUNS post and that got me thinking about legalization of all drugs and I'm curious to hear what all our very smart BPer's think about this? It's fun as most people only talk about legalizing marijuana, but I'm talking about ALL drugs.

My position is this:

1. War on drugs is the worst thing possible.
2. Legalization and regulation is second best. Yes, I would take this over the war on drugs.
3. Decriminaliztion and regulation takes the cake for me as best policy for ALL drugs.

I'm real curious, what do you think? I'll explain my position more as I see what others think!

Mike M Well instead of a grant, don't you think he could of paid for the weapon with a small bank loan, or even just go get a job for 2 weeks, perhaps he could of sold food stamps for cash if he got them. There's way to many EASY ways you can get cash quickly if you have no fear of messing up your credit. These guys that are going to do this don't have anything to lose so they can go to a FastCash store or whatever and get what they need.

Bill Gulley & Karen M. If the US banned more advanced guns don't you think people would still be able to get them from Mexico?

J Scott The whole, "you should legalize it because people will get it any way" logic I follow for other topics like drugs. I'm positive legalization and regulation would be much more better then having a "war" on drugs. But what I think is even better is not simple legalization, but instead decriminalization and it's regulation too. Do you not think that legalization would be better then a "war" on drugs?

Check this out: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/report-21-trillion-hidden-taxman-offshore-accounts-article-1.1119613

So, $21 trillion (which is a low guess they said) taxed at USA's top bracket of 37% gives us about $7 trillion. Well there's the cost of health care covered ;D

What do you think?
