@Gary Harris I am in Rockland County, NY. I work in Orangeburg which is very close to Westwood, NJ. I too would love to attend the meetings in Northern NJ.

@Christine Schleo Hi Christine - I know this is an old thread but I am curious if you ever found anything in the Hudson Valley. I live in Rockland County and I too am searching the Highland Falls NY area. I know a few people that have rentals in that area and they have been happy. It is an interesting mix of military staff due to West Point and then section 8.
@Eric Hrlbock - I would be interested in hearing more about the condos in the Poughkeepsie area. I hadnt thought about that area in the past. Currently I have 2 single family rentals in Rockland but looking for more properties in a lower priced area.

@Ryan Keenan - Are condo/hotels still something you are researching?

I just started researching condo/hotels too. I would love to talk to someone that has actually purchased one. (Preferably New York/New Jersey on down to Florida...)
@Daniel Karbownik - Did you end up purchasing one in Wildwood? I would be curisous to hear about your experience if you did. The points you brought up about how the rental pools work were great!

Good Luck! Congrats on taking action : )
Let us know how it goes. Is your investment in Orange County? I am curious because I am in Rockland and I think about investing in Orange County as well.

Thank you both for your responses. I guess I am a little obsessed with this house but just reallly getting into investing and afraid this would be biting off more than I could chew.
I was actually inside this property about 4 years ago because I was in contract to buy it as my primary residence. The deal fell through the day before the closing because the sellers could not afford to close. At that time we were in contract to buy it at $650,000. It is now on hubzu for $360,000! I know this is a neighborhood of $700,000 to $800,000 homes (about 3,000 sq feet ranches).
I currently have a primary residence plus 2 rental properties(single family homes). I have decided to put more time and effort into Real Estate Investing but I think I am afraid to dive into this property it is a huge house and may be too much to handle this soon. This property intrigues me and scares me at same time.
I have been addicted to this BP website and found a local Real Estate Investors club I will join. In meantime I think I will focus on a condo flip at much less cost.

I am eyeballing this house in my town on Hubzu.
What are your thoughts when you read a description like this:
Property Description
REO Occupied - the seller does not represent or guarantee occupancy status. NO VIEWINGS of this property. Please DO NOT DISTURB the occupant. "As is" cash only sale with no contingencies or inspections. Buyer will be responsible for obtaining possession of the property upon closing.
