Kevin, I would love to learn more about your living in the city plan, living illegally is a way right now.

Thank you for your thoughts Tony. I agree it is expensive but I do believe a 400' house will work. Have you been inside a park model?

Greg, You are so right. Some people need to get a grip with what they really want to live in. A small manufactured house would be a sound place to live but those who want a 100 square foot backyard trailer parked on someone's property is asking too much. Every Sunday at our open house I talk to several people with those small dreams seeking my help but not much I can do for them. I found a lot to develop inside the city and will be opening it up with "try before you buy" small manufactured houses this fall.

Hi Leigh Ann,

There are barriers to small houses right now except in situations outside the city. At this point, I believe I am educated on what is allowed and not allowed inside the city with regards to small houses after 27 months at this stuff of study/trial & error. The short answer is that none of the small house living is legal yet, ha ha Tiny House Hunters/Tiny House Nation producers.

Having said that, what does that mean? Well, it is going to happen whether it is legal or not with 7.3 billion people on the earth not occupying anymore land areas than when we had 3.6 billion people. People need a small safe dwelling that is sustainable and now is the time in history that people will smarten up and take charge of their financial lives or more will become homeless. My goal is to wait for the market to turn and suggest places people can live when they buy small while staying out of small house development. I want to develop a specific commercial/residential lot as "try before you buy" with six different models to choose from. This will allow interested parties to stay overnight at $200-$300/night then again generate a profit of $10k-$15k for every house sold through our manufafuring partner. Makes sense? Want to come see our demonstration small house sometime?

With regards to the lot I am looking at, it is four lots away from my commercial demonstration house, hidden from city access. Legal for this type of business, some flood plain issues but manageable with houses that sit 3+ feet off the ground. I am in the process of working up a performa on it.

Recently I have become excited with finding affordable options for comfortable and practical living. Tumbleweed Tiny Homes are popular in California. I think Texas is the state with the most opportunity with a growing demographic of single professionals, empty nesters and couples that would be thrilled to not have a high rent by living in a small house sharing community space. I am coming at this as an entrepreneur. I am Interested in talking with people who understand the vision.

"What are some of your thoughts on the feasibility of developing a small house hotel and community in Austin? I am in the business of offering small house solutions in Austin. I am seeking connections with people interested in my pursuit of developing both a tiny house "hotel" (similar to one that is running in Portland, OR) and a tiny house development for the sales of the pre-placed tiny houses and the leasing of the land they rest on. It is my belief that the hotel would be profitable in an of itself but also serve as a powerful form of advertising that I make further profit off from the sales of the small houses. All of the houses I sell are 399 sqft and are high quality builds. Given the cost of living in Austin now and the heat of the market... I believe the market is craving this. I have many pieces in place and am seeking connections with those who can see my vision and want to be a part of bringing this to pass with me!
