I would stick with excel or even wave accounting which is free as well for a couple of properties. I would lean more towards wave accounting since it does the work for you.

 Ill look into that as well- thanks Markus

Way to get into the game, @Sean Kehoe!

Stessa is the best tool I can think of for the financial side of property investing.  It even has document storage so that you can keep track of everything in one place!

Thanks for the info sir! I’m actually in the Salt Lake area now so maybe we can connect at some point! Much different market than NM for sure!

Morning all,

So this year, after like 8 years on this Biggerpockets thing, I finally turned my first residence into a rental! Im officially a real estate investor...man that feels good to say. Im hooked and ready for the next one. But I do have some questions

1. Whats a good intro software to use, preferably free  😬 while I get started?

2. For tax purposes, whats everyone using for that? An excel sheet? What are the things I need to be keeping up on? Are there any softwares out there that I can use that are an all in one that can do this and keep track of the property for me?

Thanks in advance!

Prices are high in my local market, but I’m itching to get started- don’t want to be the waiting guy any longer. Should we be buying in this current market for buy and holds?

@Erik Perotti,

Did you end up using this method? Circling back on this topic!

@Phil Goodwin Do you think it would be better to just purchase an upgrade home worth more? With the build my hope is to have it all updated and green-

Hey Alb/RR area! Thought Id introduce myself to this areas local RE group. I am a small business owner and now RE investor. Beginning with wholesaling and moving forward from there. While new to the field, not new to the area or business and am a go getter and super motivated to begin this new endeavor. Would love to connect with other wholesalers etc and grow this thing, make some partnerships and learn!
