Anyone have any guidance or experience with the Nassau County, NY - Tax Lien sale/ auction online? I've never purchased a tax lien. In Nassau County is it mostly large buyers and no real opportunity for a newbie? Any common pitfalls or recommendations?

@Michael Plaks following...the fees at eqrp seem to be very high. Are the bells and whistles worth it? Are they the only company that offers support /hand holding?

Can anyone give me some insight on buying tax liens in Nassau County NY. The process, tips, cautionary tales etc.

@Chris Seveney thank you I'll try to look him up.

Hi BiggerPockets.  I would like to start investing in tax liens.  I live in NYC and learned they only sell to institutional investors.  Where is a good place for me to invest?  I've heard NJ can be complicated and very competitive.  I've heard I should pick someplace I can drive to and check out the properties.  I would be happy with having the lien redeemed.  I would also be happy obtaining the property (however, I don't yet actually have a team of contractors just yet as I don't know what area to target).  Any advice on which locations / county to research first?  I am willing to travel out of state but for my first time I think it makes sense to stay close to home (if I can).

@Courtney Benson thank you!

@Courtney Benson I have a property on a bad block in Kensington (19134) it's boarded up and I wanted a contractor to give me an estimate on cost to fix it up. I'm trying to determine if it's worth fixing up to sell or sell as is or maybe rent it. Do you happen to know a contractor and property management company that works in that area?

@Renee Yourk, @Matthew Dunn I am thinking of investing in a STR in Smokey Mountain area. I visited once and enjoyed it. I have no experience so I'm nervous and I'm out of state so could not self manage. I am looking for advice, a realtor, a property manager and any advice you can offer. I'm also wondering if we should move forward given its such a sellers market?
