Thank you so much for your responses and insight, @Phil Earley and @Sawyer Lubke! I appreciate the time you took to respond to me. Sawyer, what are some of the key questions that you think I need to be asking when interviewing PM companies?

Hello! Does anyone have recommendations for property management companies in Minneapolis, MN? I'm specifically interested in companies that work in Uptown, Northeast, and Columbia Heights. I would also love to here your experiences (good or bad!) with any local property management companies. Thank you!

Welcome to BP, Matt! The podcasts are great (I love listening to them on 1.4X speed so I can get through them faster!) and so is the Ultimate Beginner's Guide. Best of luck on your real estate ventures.

Welcome to BP, Dillion! Have you considered getting a duplex, triplex, or fourplex? You can get the same type of financing for those as you can for a single family home. You can live in one of the units and then rent out the rest. Depending on how much your mortgage and expenses are, there's a good chance that you could get some immediately cashflow each month.

In terms of learning, I second listening to the BP podcast. I also like the BP Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate Investing. It's a fairly quick read that's packed with great information for beginners. Good luck on your real estate investing adventure!

Todd, you should talk to Thomas Jussila at TruStone Financial. They are a local credit union that holds your loan and Thomas is a pleasure to work with. He is always available, is a real estate investor himself, and really knows his stuff. He is in their Lyn-Lake branch in Minneapolis.

I lived in a studio as a graduate student because I liked the privacy of living by myself and the lower cost. I think a nice studio or 1br would be very attractive to grad students or even older undergrads.
