Welcome Jeffrey, I'm new to BP and in SD as well, as well as a former Marine who did 8 years before going to school...so I feel ya, haha. Using more of a buy and hold strategy, but It's good to see some more inhabitants of America's Finest City...and yes, they're all jealous, haha. Best of luck brother!

Thank you Shade. Are you an old hand at REI? Are you headed to any of the above events? I'll be at the August 1st event in Del Mar.

Thank you Tim.
I've paid for the SDCIA membership, but I fear it was a waste of money. Their calendar hasn't been updated in months. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised at the next meeting.
I'll explore the NSDREI and FIBISD options as well. Thanks again!

Hello,
I am new to this site and I am also brand new to REI. Being from San Diego, I am very interested in speaking or meeting with people that have knowledge about this specific market. Is there a regional forum or somewhere else that I might be able to connect with local BP-ers?

As far as I understand it, you cannot have two VA loans out at the same time. If you can get a conventional loan for the rental, then you can get a new VA loan for the new place.
I'm new at this game too, so maybe someone with a little more experience can help?

Semper Fi Rixey!
3/5 Marine here...your story sounds like mine. Got my first rental property with the VA loan 2 years ago. About to purchase my second. I'm in San Diego, so I know the laws are a bit different, but hopefully we can exchange ideas in the future. Best of luck!
