Hello, Ilona Kovacs I suggest getting it. If you don’t and would get sued for some reason, you’d likely get sued personally despite your owning it in an LLC (if you do own it in a business entity, that is).

Highly unlikely. In Ohio, there’s not a chance, but don’t know which government you’re dealing with. I would expect that it won’t get reduced.

Hi, Keith:

I’d be happy to help or at least discuss.  My firm handles hundreds of tax lien foreclosures in Ohio.  The big thing is describing the value of the lien.   There may be other options depending on your statute, too.   In Ohio, you can put up a promissory note to cover much of the purchase.

@Jay Hinrichs that sounds like a wild one. There’s always an outlier.  That’s for sure.

To add to @David Krulac ‘s point regarding federal tax liens.   The IRS and federal agencies have an ultimate redemption by statute that provides they “may” redeem their lien and throw it back on or execute on the lien after any tax or foreclosure sale.  Although, I’ve never seen the IRS or other agency actually slap it back on but it’s good to know of the dangers when you see a federal lien on the property.   All good information here.  What a good group.
