Thanks @Paul Timmins for the book recommendations. I'm loving being able to access so much information for little to no cost...and good information at that.

@Fred Heller

 Awesome :) Yes the BBQ is pretty good. What I like about it is you can get different tastes from different places depending on your mood and no matter what its still better than most. Nice meeting you.

Thanks @Jane A.! I've looked at the MAREI but did not know about KCIG.  I will have to tryto make it to one of the WIRE meetings. Sounds interesting.

@Mindy Jensen

Yes that's how I see it too. Since then I have actually seen people spend $18k on the next level then $30k after that. They even called me and tried to get me to pay $10k for a mentor. When my husband said we want to try it on our own 1st, the guy got mad and hung up! Ridiculous, especially everything they taught I either knew or could learn on my own or bug other investors like you nice folk :)

Oh yeah I know the flipping shows show the pretty stuff...mostly entertainment. @james wise my favorite show now is Flip or Flop on HGTV and Flipping Boston on DIY network.

Hey all! Sooo glad I found this group. I've been listening to the great podcasts and lurking around the forums for about a week now and decided it's about time I introduce myself. My name is Pearline Hardy and I am pretty much new to this industry. I've always loved houses and the real estate market but I never thought about it as a career until I started watching HGTV to get some ideas for decorating my new house about 10 years ago and got obsessed with house hunting shows which led to renovation and flipping shows. The more I watched I realized that these people had to start somewhere and most of them were once average people like me. It was then I decided if they can do it so can I. But then the issue became "with whose money???" Two years ago we ended up buying a new (old) house and rented out our old place. So we became landlords and semi-rehab wannabes since the new house needed work. The dream was postponed due to 2 looong pregnancies but that didnt stop me from working on my own house. So here I am more ready than ever. I have basically joined this group for the networking opportunites and the massive source of information (this is after spending $2K on some ridiculous 3 day investment seminar that I was convinced I needed only to end up teaching me an hours worth of information that I didnt already know boo!). Also is anyone associated with the local REIA?
