As a CPA you'll probably have a leg up on some of the competition. The BiggerPockets community is a wonderful place to start your "education" Check out the podcasts if you haven't already. I've listened to all of them and I'm about half way through listening to them again. Are you looking in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco? There are also great REIA groups out there that meet weekly or monthly. There is a group that Doug Merriott hosts that meets the first sunday of the month at the Countryside library that is a biggerpockets meetup. I highly recommend going.

As a Pinellas county native, I can tell you that you can have a war zone that is two streets away from 500k houses. Theres nothing like looking at a million dollar waterfront house and having a trailer park across the street.
