@Larry Brown  -  Hey Larry. Although we may have someone from the group speak from time to time, our group is primarily one-on-one networking and conversation so everyone can hear what others, just like themselves, in the area are doing or who they may know that can help with a certain challenge. Many times, if someone is doing something well that everyone needs, they often become the center of the conversation and others can ask questions to clarify.

I'm a big fan of the BP approach of asking a group for help with a certain topic and letting the group offer suggestions with ample opportunity to connect and talk about the challenge and how each can help the other. I'm not a big fan of being sold stuff in order to succeed so I purposely limit "speakers" and encourage networking.

Our meeting is next Tues at 7pm at Kelley's on Velasko Rd so please come check us out and see if it's an approach that you prefer as well.

Thanks!

@Nick Rutkowski - Thanks Nick.  I appreciate your advice. I'm still blackballed for another year or so due to a divorce-required short sale so need a lender to look past that and still want to lend.  Any recommendations of investor-friendly lenders based on your experience ?

@Tyler Lewis - Hey Tyler! You have to learn somewhere and attending these meetings are one of the best ways, especially in your local market. Everyone is welcome at our meetings as you never know who might have a nugget of information regardless of REI experience...even if it's only some BP published advice you think of. See you next week.

@Shiki Bonaparte - Hey Shiki. Deals are always welcome as you never know who might be interested in it. The nice thing about REI as everyone does it just a little differently which makes it very flexible and interesting. In your case, someone may have a best next step advice for you regardless if they are willing to partner up with you on your deal. Looking forward to meeting you!

Hello fellow Central New York BP Investors!

Exciting news!  We are growing and increasing our member network which has prompted us to need a larger venue!  Although Aloft was great for our meetings in the past 10 months, we are now at the point where more space is needed to remain effective for networking with our colleagues in the area. We also now have a Facebook page under Syracuse Real Estate Investors so please check it out and give us a like and share it with your friends!

Kelley's Bar and Restaurant on Velasko Rd near OCC/Onondaga Hill kindly offered to host us and use their upstairs banquet room that can hold 40 people so let's fill it up! I hope you'll spread the word. Our last monthly CNY RE Investors Meetup was held on 7/3/18 at Aloft Inner Harbor in Syracuse and although I was not able to attend, I heard good things about some new members from MyTown Realty who are very knowledgeable and growing REI in this market.

Our next meetup at our new location is on Tues 8/7/18 at 7pm upstairs at Kelley's Bar & Restaurant, at 5076 Velasko Rd, Syracuse NY (www.kelleysbarandrestaurant.com ) which will be a great location for us and allow us to all learn from each other!

As always, there is no fee to attend other than a willingness to share what you know or have learned with other investors and learn from them what you may not know. Our intent is to make everyone more successful in the region and by trading knowledge so we all can do more deals!

Please join us and bring along any other investors with this same mindset. Also, please share any recent happenings for your REI journey, whether new deals, possibilities or goals in the next few months or year and include what you're looking for most at the present time, whether it be financing, a certain type of property or just a certain area in the region you'd like to know more about.

See ya there!

@Ronald Starusnak - Thanks very much for your response, I appreciate your interest!  I know Donovan as he helped me sell a house a few years back and hadn't thought of contacting him so I'll do that.

Thanks again!

Hey CNY Investors! I'm a retired Navy Officer and Iraq Vet looking for advice on which local CNY banks are the most motivated to work with somewhat blemished financial backgrounds.  As we all know, there are some who are easier to work with than others and I'm looking to secure financing for my first house-hack property.

Any advice you may have is greatly appreciated!

Hello again my fellow BP'ers!

My apologies for posting this so late in the month once again, but I hope you'll spread the word. Our last monthly CNY RE Investors Meetup was held on 6/5/18 at Aloft Inner Harbor in Syracuse and we saw a number of new members come to learn more about REI in this market. All of us have different strategies (i.e., I'm moving into buy & hold looking for a Tri/Quad house hack this year) and expertise (if only BP "book learning" principles and processes, we all pick up different nuggets that others haven't heard or put into action) My hope is that this group will continue to grow and be of value to all who attend.

Our next meetup is on Tues 7/3/18 at 7pm at the Aloft Inner Harbor, as it helps us maintain the conversational style of this networking meetup. If the weather's nice, we'll be able to meet on their patio and enjoy the sunset and fresh air.

As always, there is no fee to attend other than a willingness to share what you know or have learned with other investors and learn from them what you may not know. Our intent is to make everyone more successful in the region and by trading knowledge so we all can do more deals!

See ya there!

@Colby Todd - Agreed! Def won't be the smartest deal we ever make but it's still a start.  We'll do better in the future!  Sent you a PM as well.

@Colby Todd - I'm in a similar situation in central NY trying to get into my first small multi. I have found nothing thus far that I would like to live in, in this area, where the numbers kinda make sense.  Duplexes just won't flow around here but a larger one (6bd min) might get you to break even.  I'm looking at it from a "minimize expenses" perspective in order to get into the game and learn (hopefully break even)  then build from there as I've been looking for well over a year now.

To complicate matters, I'm also looking for private funding to make it happen so if you're able to go the normal route, more power to you!

Best of luck to you!  Let us know what happens.

@Bob Green - Hey Bob. Thanks for your reply!

I'm looking for light/no *required* rehab in my unit and light rehab at this point on the rental units. Since I'm just starting out, I don't have the $$$ to invest in rehab up front in order to be able to live there. Outdated stuff doesn't bother me as I can whittle away at it so I don't need (or want to pay for) freshly refurbished.

Thanks again!
