South Jersey is huge by itslef, you can be anywhere from Atlantic city shore to Salem County.

I would suggest pick an area first of all unless you are really-really ok with moving anywhere. In parallel work with a lender to see what you can qualify for.

Your income is one part of the equation there are factors like your liabilities, credit score, your down paymnet etc.

If the budget is tight moving into prime areas will be tough as well. but you can always get started with B areas and move up the ladder as you gain success.

Hi @Sheena R Roth I have not found an alternative or solution to fix it.

Customer support of Stessa has not been much help either. I have seen that Stessa has problems connecting and importing from certain banks. I am doing a workaround, for the ones where I see glitches, I am doing a manual export for monthly transactions at the end of the month into OFX file and then importing it into Stessa.

Also, I am trying to avoid the same $ amount of transactions on the same day, this was the approval in cashapp.

the reason I was keeping the paint in the last was thinking about the quarter rounds which will get installed after the floor.

I started using Stessa few months back, it checked all the boxes for me.

However, I have consistently seen some issues:

It created duplicates transactions, one from the pending charge and another one when it is settled. This is definitely a bigger problem, I have seen this happening with Citizen bank. Also, it locks my bank account after a few days and then I have to rest my password.

Another problem, I have seen is two transactions of the same amount on the same day, Now Stessa thinks it is a duplicate and does not import one.

I can live with Stessa if there is an easy way to reconcile with the bank, have you folks seen these kind of issues?

Do you have any other recommendations as alternatives to Stessa?

I am working on rehab of an apartment. I am considering getting it done by subcontractors/individual companies and managing the work myself. I will try to get an estimate from a GC/big company that will do all of it and then weigh out the options. But for now, I have them in the following order:

1Tub Company- reglazing
2Plumber- vanity and fixtures
3Electrician- new light fixtures and fan
4Flooring guy- all new flooring
5Painter- walls, ceiling, trim, etc
6Countertop company- kitchen
7Appliances- stove and fridge
8Handyman- closet knobs, blinds, etc
9Cleaner

Quote from @Russell Grevler:

@Chris S. I own and also manage a couple properties in the western Catskills. Returns in the area have been excellent. Let me know if you’d like to know more info, I’d be happy to share my experience over the past few years!

Hi Chris, can you please share what kind of returns do you see in Western Catskills.
How is availability of contractors, cleaners, landscapers and other people in Catskills. Poconos is horrible in that context.

If you are new to STR and also you are living not close enough that you can be there every week, don't try to do everything at once, what I mean is don't try to put all strategies together. Focus on what is your prime goal and will it be worth the time and effort.

If you are talking about areas close to lake harmony and arrowhead, it will be hard to find anything w/o HOA. HOA are painful but I would not fear that, if you can avoid them great.

Do research on township regulations, some of them have been changing lately.
