@Mark Terry Thanks Mark. Good luck to you as well. I would be curious to here how you make out on some of your flipping projects. Stay in touch.

Thanks @Javier Medina. I've seen a boatload of properties come up in the Methuen area lately. Good luck my friend.

@Steve Bracero thanks. Correct, I'm looking to start off with a smaller number of units and grow from there. Also you are right, the closer you get to Boston the higher the cost of housing though this is the same with rents. I'd also assume that there's more demand the closer that you get to Boston.

Hi BP Members,

I'm in the process of "starting out". A friend of mine and myself have been intrigued by Real Estate Investing for a while now but have really just started to buckle down and get serious about it. We have a few leads on properties (a neighbor of mine as well as a family member of mine) but want to make sure we get everything together before we jump right in. I have three main questions..

1) I've read on BP that starting an LLC is only really a good choice if you are in a partnership situation, which we are, though my question is whether or not there may be better options for partnerships, other than starting an LLC..

2) What is the best way to go about obtaining a mortgage in a partnership situation. We have a sizable amount of cash for a down payment, but does this need to be somehow tied to the LLC, other than in our personal bank accounts, prior to going apply for a mortgage?

3) I see people all the time mentioning their calculators and spreadsheets to evaluate properties and whether or not they are worth investing in. Does anyone know of a good one that shows specific examples of properties? I'd like to see one completed and analyzed to wrap my head around everything and make sure i'm not missing anything when we get to this stage of the process.

Thanks in advance for the help..

Scott

Hi Bigger Pockets Members,

I'm a new member here from Franklin Massachusetts. I've been a huge fan of the Bigger Pockets podcast and, as I'm sure is true with many members, have been binge listening ever since I've discovered it.

To date I haven't personally invested in any properties, besides my own home, but I'm eager to learn and get involved when the right deal comes up. Hopefully sooner than later. I've spent the last few months trying to delve in a learn as much as possible but still have a lot to learn and still have numerous questions. It's almost as though the more I learn, the more questions I come up with. I'll be posting those in different forums.

I'm looking to invest in Multi Family units in the Massachusetts market, specifically between Framingham and Boston. My hope is to use the BRRR strategy on a three to six unit property and scale the number of units over the years.

If anyone is in the area, invests in the area, and/or is a member that would simply like to network, I'm more than happy to have a discussion/meetup.

Thanks

Scott S
