The Bigger Pockets pod casts are awesome and the BP community and discussions are better than any book. That said, the BP books also have some great information.

I would also suggest getting out and seeing some of the available properties in the areas you are looking to invest. Attending open houses or teaming up with a real estate broker to look at distressed properties will help you understand the market better.
