Quote from @Matthew Paul:
Inflation down ?   I guess you havent been to the grocery store in the last couple years , filled up your gas tank , paid your insurance , or bought a car  ?  Rates arent real high like the 80's , but house prices are high due to inflation .

By inflation being down, I don't mean it rolled back. The rare times when that happens our economy is in deep do-do. What I mean is it is only 2.9% above what it was last year.

I'm not disparaging white people (I am white) I'm disparaging white nationalism. Do you not know what that is?

So Brown nationalists are a-ok? Or Black Nationalists? A

Absolutely not. I've never known a "brown nationalist" but there are black nationalists like Louis Farrakhan and Marcus Garvey and movements like the NOI and the Black Hebrew Israelites. I oppose their mentality.

Once again, you don't know what you are talking about, James. Communism is where the government *owns* the means of production, not controls it, that is mercantalism like Trump's proposed tariffs. It is because I support free trade capitalism that I oppose most tariffs. Again, you really should read Adam Smith because I suspect you know as little about capitalism as you do communism.

I'm glad to see you finally admit your opposition to Democracy. Yes, we started as a republic of property-owning white males. We have become increasingly more democratic over time and those changes are reflected in our Constitution. That's why MAGA supporters are so eager to turn back things like the 14th Amendment and women's right to vote. And yes, they are doing this even though Republicans wrote the 14th Amendment. Lincoln would not recognize today's Republican Party. Gone is the party of Earl Warren, Edwin Brooke, George Romney, and Everett Dirksen. What happened is the Southern Strategy wherein the Dixiecrats moved over to the GOP. I've lived in the South for the last 35 years and watched it happen.

I think $15 an hour would be about right for most areas of the country. Paying wait staff $2.13 an hour as they do in Mississippi is an abomination. Right now burger flippers in California are making $20 an hour. I can still get value meals for $5. If people are paid a living wage, we wouldn't need programs like food stamps, Section 8, etc. We are subsidizing Walmart!

<sigh> Like I said you have no idea what a communist is. Sam Alinsky the author of Rules for Radicals was no communist. He was a community organizer. It's a blue print about how to organize people from the bottom up, in other words how to be *democratic* (which you admitted in another post yu don't really support.) One of the things he championed was the use of religious bodies for that purpose, something no Marxist would have permitted. The Tea Party and MAGA Movements owe as much Alinsky as do those on the left.

3-This is just another way to try and spend for growrh, which has never worked for anyone who had been in office.

If the govt, lowers personal and corporate taxes, lowers regulation, opens up drilling for oil (to lower inflation), and lower interest rates, will help more pp than any down payment program.

Spending has brought about growth, but growth is not our problem right now. If anything the economy is overheated which is why lowering taxes would not be a good idea either. When Trump did it we ended up with the biggest deficit of all time, well before the pandemic. As for drilling, we are already drilling enough oil to meet our domestic needs and more than we ever have in our history. But oil is sold on a global market and it's the oil companies, not the government that is holding back. They don't want the price to go down. As for lower interest rates, those are coming.

Quote from @Dustin Faeth:

Unemployment has been steadily on the rise for the past several months and just hit 4.3% recently which is the highest it's been in a couple years.

Anything below 5% is considered full employment by economists. And despite the slight rise in unemployment this month, unemployment claims went down.

actually yes I had to take my wife to ER in Jackson she had a TIA and of course when you go to the ER with heart or Stroke they move you right in.. So no complaints there..
Yeah, I have a problem when it comes to ERs. Even when I have massive infections like that appendicitis, I don't run fevers. Makes it hard to get past triage. I even lost a kidney due to this problem.

Quote from @Dustin Faeth:

It's not a good thing....the last thing we need is more government spending and handouts which is going to increase inflation. Terrible policies like this and government overspending is what put us in the bad position we're in right now as a country

I don't think we are in a bad position as a country. We have full employment, inflation is down, interest rates are high, but not outrageously so, we just got spoiled. However, I think the only 'handout' I think we need right now is the child tax credit which both parties claim to support. We can start limiting the rest of our social welfare programs by simply raising minimum wage to a living wage.

Well, we do have this Tiny House fad right now, but can someone explain to me how these are any better than an old fashioned trailer?
