Check realtor or Zillow for comparable homes in the area. The tax website isn't always reliable for selling price. Could be close, could be way off.
I'm from Alabama so the tax redemption period here is different. I do know that a quit claim deed does not mean full ownership but only certain rights to the property. You need a warranty deed to buy or sale at full price.
Is there any additional info you can find on the tax assessors website about the property?
Realtor or Zillow may tell you the last time the house was sold.
Find out the how long the owner has to redeem in that county.

I recently purchased a tax deed in Jefferson county and wanted to know how to determine if a property is considered to be vacant or abandoned. Based on what I could see through the windows, there is some furniture in the house but I don't think the utilities are turned on. I'm assuming it's vacant but it could be a second home.
Also, do I keep the furniture assuming the taxpayer wants to redeem or trash it? Could storage fees be included in redemption as well?
Thanks in advance!

Question???
Let's say an investor purchased a deed in Jefferson county, Alabama. Went in and did repairs, but didn't pay the taxes for the next 3 years.
Would the next investor have to pay for the repairs and back taxes the previous investor paid? Or just the back taxes?
If you purchase a tax deed, you would have to pay the taxes on the property for the next 3 years until redemption was up in order to receive the deed correct?

I was just thinking about this idea last night and if there was a possibility of builing a community or sfr here in Alabama. There is so much vacant land here and tax property available. Thinking "outside the box" or maybe inside lol! Habitat for Humanity seems to think it' a good idea. Go For It!! Here's a link

Hello everyone. I have found some really nice vacant tax deed properties in Birmingham and need some recommendations on how to get, I guess, a finders fee. I don't have the money to purchase them so how do I make sure that if I show them the properties they don't go around me and purchase them?
Thanks in advance!!

If I purchased a tax deed and put a tenant in place, what happens to the tenant if the owner redeems?
