Thank you all for your input. @ Terry, yes I believe part of the fees were based on providing an iron clad asset protection plan in place which would flow right into or in conjunction with the estate planning.

@ Ned, he was kind enough to provide me with an estate plannig book which he authored which goes through estate planning from A through Z in questionnaire format. At this point, I am in research mode attempting to educate myself about LLC's to determine what would be best. And yes, with the attempt of receiving the best value for my dollar, and I emphasize value.

Thank you all once again.

Hi BP Community,

I just walked out of an attorneys office with regards to estate planning and setting up a living trust, and included in our discussion was setting up an LLC for my real estate property. Based on my current family situation it was recommended that I setup 3 LLC's. In addition to the cost of the trust, the cost of setting up an LLC was quoted at $1,800 each. Can anyone here give me any suggestions on options for setting up an LLC, what I should expect to pay, where I can go, and what type of LLC I should setup? Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Hi Bobby,

Welcome to BP. Yes, site is a wealth of information and more importantly provides an abundance of resources through its member base. I am located in the Jersey Village area, a suburb north of Houston which is also my REI farming area. Good luck and feel free to reach out at any time.

Thank you all for your comments and insight. Steven, I will definitely look into your list of names to see what I can glean from each of the individuals.

Sharon, the "How to" is exactly what I am looking for with the personal component. Do you have any programs that you would recommend? Wholesaling is where I would like to begin. How to get a property under contract, how to check for encumbrances, liens, or anything that could give me an unwanted financial backend surprises. The A through Z of wholesaling (marketing, negotiating, contracting, finding buyers etc).

Hi all,

So where do I start? Let's start with telling you a little about myself. I've been in the real estate business for over twenty years now, however in a very passive and novice setting. It wasn't until just recently that I began to actively pursue investing in real estate having made a few buy and hold transactions within the last several months and a flip back in 2011.

So what's this all about? Well I want to learn the business of real estate investing with the objective of being able to stretch the value of my dollar, grow my real estate portfolio and reach financial freedom.

With regards to stretching the value of my dollar, I receive wholesale deals on a daily basis however it seems that most of the deals that come my way fall short in value. Having said, I am thinking about being mentored by one of the local gurus in Houston to learn the business of wholesaling and to improve my flipping know-how. Cost of program? Big $$$.

I am in the Houston market looking for advice, know-how, mentoring, and guidance. I have read more than once on this site "Why pay when all the information is available at no cost through the wealth of knowledge of the BP community".

Having said that, I am looking for guidance, assistance, and opinions. Mentors highly welcomed!

Hi everyone,

My name is Ted Rivera and I am originally from California and moved to Houston back in 2009. I have been in the real estate investment business for quite some time, with several rental units in California. I am now attempting to duplicate my business here in Houston and build my portfolio. Though I have been a landlord for over twenty years now I still consider myself somewhat of a novice when it compared the vast options that are out there. I've already purchased a couple of homes here in Houston but looking for ways to maximize the buying power of my dollar. Look forward to sharing with you all. What a great site!!
