@Bob Floss II Wow, seriously? In my own experience as a renter, I have only given landlords security deposits. Can you elaborate on how a security deposit exposes a property owner? This deposit would go in a separate savings account designated for security deposits.

We own a 3 unit building in Chicago. Do we need to keep security deposits in a separate bank account? Any information I see on the matter only references larger properties. Just wondering if there are any rules smaller owners need to follow.

We bought a 3 unit building (live in the owner's unit) and inherited great tenants. One of them wants to add a roommate. I'm wondering if anyone has any preferred sites they use for credit checks and background checks? Thanks!
