@Joel Owens I agree with the limit of time. I'm looking to purchase an investment not another job.

@Mareno Rathell thank you. As with anything there is a more "effective " way to do something and I am wanting to learn best practices as it applies to this type of area. Glad to hear you have had success!

@Dennis M. Thanks for the input. I would be hiring a property manager so it wouldn't be self- managed

Post: Most Dependable Unemployment Data?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but what have you found to have the most dependable data for unemployment stats for a particular zip code? I've been using bestplaces.net but I decided to cross-reference with city-data.com and the spread is significant (6%).
When I Google "unemployment rate [zip code] yet another website pops up- zipdatamaps.com - with yet another figure.
The website for US Dept of Labor does not seem to have it broken down by zip code.
I'm researching (along with other stats) to determine if I want to invest in a particular area. Thanks in advance!

@Quincy Lockett what do you mean "use these properties to add value"? As in fix them up in an effort to attract better tenants?

@Doug McVinua thank you for this perspective from someone who has been there done that. I know the property management plays a huge role in this and can certainly be a determining factor of success
