Wow, that was extremely insightful. Thanks. I am retaining all of this information. This was such a great help, thanks a lot. I'm pretty sure I'll have more questions, but this will keep me satisfied for a while.

Thanks Corey. I was thinking that I really would like to get into high rise condos, and mixed use developments. What kind of buyers would buy those kinds of developments-probably the same kind right?

Thanks Jon, this is such great advice. Do you know who some of Donald Trumps buyers are?

I have a great interest in developing. I would like to develop and hold some of the properties (mostly mix use and condominiums) but most of the properties I would like to sell for profit. I just want to know who exactly does the developers sell to? Is is property manager, investors, other developers?

Well I am planning on buying condemned buildings in downtown districts and re-developing them, as well as buying raw land and building on it. I am thinking more like Donald Trump like developments, mix use and high rises. How exactly would I make money off of something like that?

Ok, if you read my other post, you would see that I want to be a developer. I am learning so much so fast. One question I have is: how exactly does a developer make money off of a project. Does he hold it and essentially manage the property themselves, or do they sell it? If they sell it, who do they sell it to? Is it property management groups, other developers or investors?

I know that this is going to sound really newbie-ish of me, but I an aspiring developer, I have a lot of knowledge of how to acquire for some residential and commercial properties, however as I said, I am an aspiring DEVELOPER, which means that I am looking at the BIG projects such as high rise condominiums, mixed-use , and other big commercial developments. I wanted to know how would I put together financing for such projects. My mentors are people like Trump, the Helmsleys', and Paul Allen. I know that these developers didn't use their own money to fund these projects, so how did they get the funding?

Hey JV

I have to say that I agree with Mike. I felt the same way as you, but I stayed in college because, the degree will ultimately help you in the long run. I am in my second year of college right now (Im 19) I just got into real estate, and I have to say that it is very exciting. If I quit school now, there is nothing to fall back on if my investments fall through. I think you should probably stay. There are real estate programs at schools like University of Pennsylvania, NYU and University of Michigan has an urban planning program in their Ross School of Business.
