Hey this is Tommy Coan, I was set on learning all I could about Real Estate investing mainly house flipping, but it wasn't long after I became a member I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and was told right off it would be a 9 to 12 month process, well it's getting closer to the end of my battle with cancer( for the good that is). I did 28 sessions of radiation and chemotherapy before surgery in hopes of shrinking the tumor to save my sphincter muscles from the tumor, so after all that and 6 weeks of healing I went to meet the specialist for colorectal surgery, he looked at all the tests and scans that was performed before and after treatments, he gave me two options( option 1 was a permanent colostomy which I said I'm not in favor of, what's option 2 i said? Thinking anything would be better than option1 right!) ( he said option 2 is 6 feet under pushing up daisies!) well I said you know option is looking a lot better now! So it is what it is! After surgery the complete tumor was removed and 19 lymph nodes tested negative and 8 weeks of healing I started another 4 months of chemotherapy 8 treatments for preventive measures! You get thrown curve balls in life or bumps in the road! You can sit there say WHY ME? WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS? That's what I did for a couple weeks in the beginning, but then I realized a great attitude is gonna help me more than anything, so my wife and I got closer to God and our church family and committed our lives to Jesus! I'm feeling great, I've only had minor side effects from the chemotherapy mainly tired and weak on chemo week! Due to all this I decide to put Real estate investing in hold I also run my own hot shot trucking rig that I've put on hold until I'm done with all this! That's great news! I'm so glad I found Biggerpockets, I've learned more in the past week on here, than I ever did from the guru's.

This is a good read, just wished I had read it before I wasted time with two different Guru's. However i had just finished a two hour interview with a guru when I decided to google him and that's how I found Biggerpockets, so something good did come out of it. 

Lots of great information here! This is definitely a must read for a Newbie and it's free! Thanks!
