@Connor Dunham, Thanks!  Keep me in mind if you come across any buy & hold deals in the ANC area.  I would still like to do some deals in that area, but you are right about the urban amenities.

@Michell P., Is the St. Johns area a decent area for young families (decent schools/ low crime)? Also what is an ADU? - I'm unfamiliar with the abbreviation.

@Tim Roos, Thanks for the heads up.  I'll keep an eye out.

@Michell P., Thanks!  Luckily, I will continue to work on the North Slope of Alaska so I won't ever have to deal with rush hour traffic.  I will be flying out every 2 weeks on a late flight and come back mid day two weeks later.  But I will definitely keep an eye on Redfin.  The hardest part lately has been finding anything with a 4br unit(s).

Big difference between Vancouver and Portland. Suggest really scouting the areas out first.

Welcome and good luck.

Thanks Jeff for the feedback.  I am planning on being out there mid-april to check out both areas and get a lay of the land. Exciting times!

Hi all. At the end of the school year I had planned to move the family up to Anchorage, AK. But as fate would have it we have decided as a family to make the Portland,OR area our new home.  I have a contract on my home in Maryland and want to take this opportunity to purchase a duplex in the Vancouver / Portland  area (ideally by midsummer at the latest). If anyone knows of a duplex in that area up for sale,  please let me know.  Also if anyone knows a good buyers agent/ brokers please feel free to let me know. Thanks!

@Curt Davis , Thanks for the input.  I was planning on going to the December meeting to start networking. I will certainly take your advice and find Bill.  Thanks again!

Hi All,

I have been reading an awful lot of threads, books and listening to podcasts recently.  The book I'm reading now is J. Scott's book on flipping houses.  He does a fantastic job describing the step by step process to success.  I am at the point now where I am trying to assemble my team.  I am trying to keep the pace moving forward... So in typical newbie fashion, I would ask that if you know of any great realtors, contractors, lawyers, title companies, etc. who are intimately familiar working with investors in the greater Baltimore area, please pass either my contact information on to them or theirs to me.  My number is 443.536.7930 or I can be reached at [email protected] or through BP messenger.

Thanks!

@Nathan Hickman Thanks for the offer.  Hopefully I can get some more time to get a feel for the market in Anchorage too.

@Travis Paez I'm currently at work now, but I will be back in Maryland on the 8th.  I'd love to take you up on the offer to meet up when I get back.  Thanks!

Thanks to everyone so far for welcoming me to the community.   I look forward interacting with you all in the future!

@Marc M. , I'm going to try and make that meeting on the 10th.  My kids are in activities on that night, but hopefully I can do some rearranging and attend the meeting.  I'll keep you posted.  And thanks for the heads up!

@Joe Fairless Amazingling my commute hours per month hasn't changed since I worked in Baltimore.  They are just condensed into two days instead now. Thanks for introducing yourself!
