Post: FL State Exam for Agents

To all of the FL real estate agents out there. I'm going to be taking the state licensing exam in the next few weeks and am just looking for input. How similar was it to the pre-licensing exam? Are there specific subjects you recall that were covered more than others? I took the pre-licensing course through the FL real estate institute and feel pretty confident, but thought I'd reach out to see what others thought of the exam. Any input is appreciated!

Hi everyone! Was wondering if any agents became licensed through the Watson School of Real Estate. If so, how was your experience? Were the instructors helpful and did you feel thoroughly prepared for the state exam afterwards? I ask because I'm considering becoming licensed through Watson to become an agent. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

@Clayton Plank thanks for the heads up about Jaxreia.org. I checked out the site, but it doesn't look like there's any events going on during the days I'll be there. I should be able to get down to Jax one more time before making the big move so I'll try to plan it around a time when there is an event.

Thanks John! Getting my license is something I've thought about,  but not at this time.  Maybe down the road.

Hi everyone! My name is Will and I am still very new to real estate. I'm originally from FL and am looking to relocate back to the Jacksonville/St. Augustine area in the next few months. To help me transition into real estate I am looking for jobs with property management companies so I can earn a steady income while I continue to save up and purchase my first multifamily investment property by the end of the year. Was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for good property management companies to look into or who are hiring. While I don't have a background in real estate, I have always worked in and done well in customer service so I believe a position with a property management company will suit me well. I will also be visiting the area Jan 18th-22nd so if anybody knows of any rei events happening during those days, please let me know! Would love to attend one.

Thank you Phil! I'll definitely be sure to check out the site. Didn't think of asking about employee turnover, but that's absolutely something to consider.

Hi everyone! Here is my situation. I work a typical office 9-5 job and see no further advancement within this company. On top of that, I live in NYC and will be looking to escape the high cost of living/taxes and low quality of life that this city has. I am determined to get into real estate investing and I am looking to invest in FL or St. Louis; reason being that I grew up in FL and lived in St. Louis for 3.5 years so I am more comfortable with these ares in terms of investing.

What I am thinking of doing to get my foot in the door, and which will allow me to relocate to FL, is to apply for jobs with property management companies in the Jacksonville area. I have family in the area so I would have 0 living expenses and I could save way more than I ever could in NYC.

I specifically want to pursue buy and hold investing until I can master that then potentially move on to other forms of investing (flipping, wholesaling etc...).  For this reason I think it would be a good idea to get some experience through working for a property mgmt company to really learn the business. Just want to see what everyone thinks of this as far as getting a foot in the door with real estate. Anybody know of good property management companies or better yet, ones to stay away from?

Looking forward to all your replies!

Will

Hi everyone! My name is Will and I'm completely new to real estate investing. Looking to gain as much knowledge as I can before I make my first investment. As of now I'm very interested in house hacking with the end goal being to live completely mortgage free by earning enough from tenants. Down the road I might get into multi family units or landlording multiple properties. Really looking for something to supplement my income and possibly become a full time gig where I can be my own boss. Looking forward to picking the experts brains and learning as much as I can!
