@Nancy P.

I'm also in Illinois and hoping that our eviction moratorium will be lifted this coming week. I’m currently in limbo with one bad tenant.

Henry, it's located in the Clearing/Garfield Ridge neighborhood.

Yes, Jonathan, they've actually asked for $8K to leave the premises.  This is my first eviction process. I e-filed the complaint & summons this morning for the eviction based on violation of the lease agreement and illegal activity.

I plan to file criminal charges for trespassing and theft tomorrow morning.

Instead of paying these criminals, I would rather pay an attorney who can at least educate me on the eviction process.

We have horrible tenants. They've violated a number of clauses from our lease agreement.

They smoke inside the unit, they've stolen packages from other tenants, they have explosives (fireworks) left in the hallway, they have both hallways blocked with personal items, they are trying to blackmail us by withholding rent so that we extend their lease until 2022. I had a tenant recently leave because they are noisy in the middle of the night and the previous tenant had filed a police report for stolen packages. Ofcourse every month has been painful to collect rent from them because they have threaten us multiple times that they will live rent free until their lease agreement is over.

Today I had to file my own police report for this couple because they stole my father's cell phone as he was helping me paint the 2nd floor apartment. This couple actually admitted to stealing it and produced the cell phone when the police insisted that they return it and that it was wrong.

We plan to file a criminal and eviction case. If anyone can please recommend an eviction attorney in the city of Chicago, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

@Landon Rasmussen Absolutely! We experienced a fire in the garage In a multi-family and I’m so glad one of our the tenants thought to call us at the moment as the fire dept was pulling up. Emergencies will happen and you want to know at the moment.

@Abel Sanchez Yes I recommend writing a letter providing them a notice of Non-Renewal of the lease agreement and sending it as certified mail with a return receipt.
