Expanding on that: Can I separate some of the fix up costs like flooring, the new hot water heater, the new fridge, etc and make each of these separate assets for their own depreciation.

Hello everyone.My name is Mark Colburn and i'm a new member to BP.I bought my first property in Nov of 2011 and it was a multifamily side-by-side duplex.It was a bank owned property that we did an extensive renovation to including two new kitchens, two new bathrooms, new flooring, new paint, new water heaters, new vented bathrooms, tons of repairs to walls (was prior section 8) etc.All in all I spent about one year and $35K on the renovation.

.$3000 is due upon the completion of refinishing hardwood floor $12000 is due upon the completion of the tile wall and floor installation in the bathroom and installing kitchen cabinets countertop $7500 is due upon the completion of building the storage house in back yard with most of the landscape work prepared or done.$4000 is due upon the completion of the interior and exterior paint.$3500 is due upon passing city final permit inspections. balance of $3000 is due upon the completion punch list
