Besides having a successful project, the common factor in whether the arrangement is successful or not are: transparent roles, leadership, legal/work responsibility, stake, costs/fees responsibility, and exit strategy.Also, from that i would add, much like accredited investors, you don't want to take $5K or $10K from "friends" who could arguably not afford to lose that money.

I think the statistic is less than 3% of people in America have a SDIRA but you know of that 3%, a large majority are accredited and looking for investments.Also if you combine what's said above in terms of thought leadership and marketing, and combine a charitable component, I think that can also go a long way in terms of raising capital.
