U can refi above basis you just cant write off the interest on the portion of the loan that is above your basis.. check with your CPA ..

Just wanted to chime in since I did have some first hand knowledge and like everything paid training wise on BP there is a definite bias AGAINST and a thought process U can learn everything for free on BP and you should save your 9k and buy a 40k house in the mid west LOL.Lastly on the phone pitches and again to be as honest as I can be based on my experience.
