Then when you're able shift gears from any sort of "technician" IT and go into project management (which usually recruits its junior positions from out of the pool of software developers so that they'll know how to talk to the developers they manage).

I know this sounds crazy but....the aggressive high training and recruitment brokerages will have ads on Craigslist trying to get you to work for them.
