Since the noise is an issue, and the heat warning is serious so consider these ideas: First, offer to give them another portable unit (rent or buy one) to spread the cooling and reduce noise in one area. 

Look at all your payment options and if the 401K distribution is the only way, I would consider it.A lot of people will warn you aganst it.

I unfortunately had gotten in a deal with the owners of the program, a few things later things started to come to light because of another situation.
