Some do, some don't, some will sell out just the servicing (while retaining ownership of the underlying asset) to a company that puts the credit union's branding and trademarks on the statements and has employees that will answer the phone as if they work for the credit union that way you feel better as a customer, and every concealable combination thereof and in between.
