We sprayed the wood that was damaged with a combination of bleach and multipurpose cleaner - not sure if that got rid of it or just masked the smell enough...

Wear a mask and cover your hair as pieces do fly.

I had 2 STRs during Covid and they were both slammed with people wanting to get out of the big cities with the hordes of people, and away from all the mask regulations, restaurant closures and all that.

Lots of "get rich quick" gurus out there about buying deals with no money down or "creative financing" that when you peel back the curtain you realize is a scam used to sell courses online. 

Insurance has been a pain lately.Our last company claimed we had peeling paint at our stained cabin.

This included things like installing transition pieces in the doorway between laminate and wood flooring "because the change in surface texture was a tripping hazard", replacing a concrete slab in the drive (Which the tenants do not use) because there were cracks, scraping and repainting minor cracked/peeling paint in the halls "because it was a health hazard", installing GFI outlets which the other landlord had never been cited for, and a number of other things that clearly had not just developed since the previous inspection.

They can step out if they choose and we wear masks, but unless you are restricted by local ordinances, do not let up

I know I would have to keep my eyes peeled for the best deals around to strike a deal like that consistently every year though.

And yet, you might be surprised how much foolishness you’ll uncover if you peel back some onions…
