We were advised to line the perimeter of the house with plastic and hose the siding down while carefully pulling off mostly whole pieces.

The space was heated, but cold air goes to the ground, which is where the water pipe was.Another thing to keep in mind is that PEX pipe is less likely to burst when it freezes, since it is plastic.

Also taped a funace type plastic drain hose to garden hose from dehumidifier and ran it directly into floor drain & zip tied it to drain.

We also had an iron tub in the front yard that my mom would fill with water and put black plastic over to help warm the water, then a little hot water from the wood stove, and we would take turns bathing in the great outdoors.Rough stuff, but I don't recall ever being unhappy at that time.
