There's specific knowledge that can only come with ownership - buying and selling as a broker doesn't make up for the blood, sweat, tears, triumphs, and lessons learned of ownership specific to a jurisdiction. 

Alcohol is expensive and damages your body / brain. 

I use Proper insurance, unwritten by Lloyds of London, for my STR - covers the extra issues you would expect from an STR like vandalism, alcohol liabilities, business interruption up $10k, hot-tub cooties etc.
