I would not go very far on foot in the dark, feel safe in the daylight.  

So it's not uncommon for travelers to leave the house at night and come back when it's still dark out, especially during winter.

I agree 100% that the best way to do it is to go out and maybe shadow the auctions, etc.

I think of it like this I could watch a YouTube video how to rebuild a car engine or I could shadow a seasoned car mechanic and learn how he rebuilds car engines.
