Actually, yes. i can refer one out of Tampa that actually has a formal design degree and a ton of experience with not only residential and commercial interior design, but flip and ground up as well.

I 100% recommend to have a designer design STR's in competitive markets unless you are really adept as an amateur!

You are paying top dollar and as soon as you drive off the lot it may depreciate especially if there are brand new alternatives for sale and things still break or don't function even early on. 

It seems a bit like a much more involved endeavor (branding, marketing, staff, etc), is this something youve been doing recently with good results?

We are building for others and for sale for ourselves, but I have a close friend who is building himself rentals.I have come across two different designs for infill stacked triplexes, but I need to really dial in costs to greenlight one.
