You want your “anchor” to be something inherent to the home or lifestyle—like “the house with the pool” or “the home with the white picket fence.”

Our parents had one job for 45 years and never moved. 3/2/2 with the white picket fence. 

Ranking in order though...1) Prices will drop - 10-20% because the job market is getting tougher2) Salaries will increase - 3-4% per year to keep up with inflation3) Interest rates will drop - 100-150bps as people worry less about inflation4) Unfortunately, the dream of a house with a white picket fence will be out of reach for many, especially before the age of 40.

I harken back to 08 to 09 when Naca got protesters to picket CEO's of sub prime mortgages homes in NY and CT. 

Yes they suck. ...alot lol.Nice south bay burbs are still highly desirable, low DOM, naturally appreciate and coupled with value add still present good returns.Ironically techies (from many different cultures) still want a 3/2 picket fence house.This strategy, however, comes at great personal discomfort.

I was thinking if I can talk to my neighbor about sharing the cost (I, the landlord, personally provide labor and my neighbor provide material (e.g. fence pickets)).

Please go to the next CA Judicial Council Meeting and picket, make a public statement and picket if you can. 

(Give that to sellers, they picket $100k after paying off the loan.) and then pay them 4.5% interest (what they could get from the bank.) now you’re talking $750/yr extra interest, and it’s being paid to family.

I'm married, have three kids, and I live in an upper-middle class type suburb with the lawn and the white picket fence and it costs so much these days to keep a family there, it makes me worry about the future for my kids.
