I'm having issues with mine however I'm reading a lot of negative reviews for most of the others I see as well.Be careful with negative reviews.

Turnkey companies offers a one stop shop but they upcharge for it.

It's all about who you hire to manage them :) We started off managing our own properties and soon after started our own property management company.

There must be a way but a lot of insurance companies I talk to tend to not do investments. 

As a property manager myself, I typically encourage investors to give it a shot for a few months as you can always go ahead and hire a company at any point.STR management can be expensive, typically about 15-20% here in Atlanta, so it could be worth saving some money and seeing how it goes.
