Should I buy the hardware store in the mixed use building I'm planning to buy?

Here is my question. I'm looking to buy a mixed use building with 6 apartments above a hardware store. I also have an opportunity to buy out the store. Has anyone ever had any experience owning a store? If we buy this building I will own 27 units and I spend a ton of money on repairs. The thought of being able to buy all my supplies at wholesale is very attractive. Can anyone give me some inside.

@Darren Flater I think it is a great idea.  We should be thinking outside the box everyday. A couple months ago I bought a commercial property, a property I never would have considered a year prior.  The deal made sense once I started putting the #'s together.
