Smart devices and tenant turnover

How is everyone handling when a tenant moves out and has their smart phone connected to the Nest thermostat? My understanding is doing a hard reset on the thermostat factory resets it so the next tenant can connect to it. I'm not entirely sure how this works if the tenant added the thermostat to their Google account. Also replaced the garage door opener with a Chamberlain that is MyQ compatible and a Samsung Smart range. How does this work once a tenant moves out and added these devices to their phone?

Thanks,

THis is one of the reasons I don't recommend smart technology. It may seem handy, but it increases the likelihood of problems when tenants (or Landlords) don't know how to properly use it.

I would contact the manufacturer directly for instructions, then write them down for future reference.
