What to do if new tenant does not switch utilities to their name.

I normally give them a week to switch all utilities to their name, but from time to time they do not do right away. What I should do or tell them.

Tell them they have 24 hours or you will turn them off.

You need to change your policy (as you can probably see). There is no benefit to giving them an entire week to establish utility accounts and it will only create headaches.

When you set an appointment for the tenant to move in, have them bring documentation that utilities were established. Don't give them keys until they've done so.
