Rental Property with Bathtubs converted to Shower

Posted

I have a new rental.  The property has 2.5 bathrooms.  The owner converted both bathrooms to have stand up showers.  I thought because of the ADA, rentals had to have at least one tub.  Is this correct?  If it is, where can I find information?  The property is in Texas.

@Johann Jells She is referring to a private residence, not a commercial structure or public facility. What evidence do you have that her rental needs to be ADA compliant?

What I said was being "residential" does not eliminate possible ADA requirements, there's a lot more to the world than SFH's. New apartment buildings have ADA compliance, and if you go past the trip point in an apartment renovation, you can be required to comply. I know people who were required to make their bath ADA compliant as part of their major reno. Read up.

I don't need to "read up" because I understand ADA. More importantly, I know the importance of sticking to the subject and answering the question instead of attempting to address every aspect of ADA or accusing someone of being uninformed.

She has a single rental. She is not doing a major renovation. She's simply asking if she is required to convert one of the showers back into a bathtub. Read up.
