Question about a Cat Visit

Patrick McAvoy
Posted

Good afternoon everyone,

This is my first post here. I’ve recently become a landlord and everything so far has been relatively smooth sailing. I live in one unit of the duplex while my tenant lives in the other.

They recently asked if a friend could visit with her two cats since the friend couldn’t be in her apartment on Saturday morning. Now, it sounds like it is just for the morning but per the lease agreement, I’ve stated no pets. Part of me wants to immediately refer to that and say no pets are allowed in the property. The other part of me feels like I should clarify if it is just for the morning but also don’t want to be caught in a double standard.

So my question is, given this information, how best would you respond to the tenant?

Let me know if I can answer any questions. Thanks!

    Hi Patrick,

If it were mine, I'd say OK as long as the cat owner was there with the cats.

Probably re-carpeting or painting or something.

    Good Luck!
