I'm a newbie but committed to start my rental property investing. Great credit and 401(k) balance but not a lot of spare cash. The information out here is overwhelming. I'm a study-learn-do kind of guy. What's the best first book to read?

@Jim Mundy I have been listening to the BiggerPockets Podcast and they ask everyone they interview for book suggestions. From there, I have been listening to “How to Invest in Real Estate” the Ultimate Beginners Guide. Learning a lot and making a list of action steps.
Hope that helps.

@Jim Mundy lots of options, but @Brandon Turner ‘s book on rental property investing or “the ABCs of real estate investing” by Ken McElroy are both pretty good starts to cover a lot of material on the subject!
Hope this helped, best of luck!

Welcome Jim, New member myself. Hoping to do my first deal by the end of the year.
Im currently reading "How to Invest in Real Estate: The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Getting Started" by Brandon Turner and Joshua Dorkin.
If you arent currently listening to the podcast I would highly suggest that.
Today my copy of "Buy, Rehab, Rent, Refinance, Repeat: The BRRRR Rental Property Investment" by David Greene just got here.
For mindset, if you listen to the podcast most guest state that their favorite real estate book is "Rich dad poor dad"
Best of luck to you in your real estate investment goals.

@Anthony Benenate thanks. I need to commit to the podcast. I just struggle to retain info from those versus something I read. Guess it’s just how I’m wired. But hearing what the successful folks are reqding might me the motivation to listen.

@Nathan Norway thanks for the guidance. I’ll check both these out. The @Brandon Turner book is for sure on my must read list.
