What type of people do you keep around you as a real estate investor?

Quick question for experienced and the up and coming, who do you consider essential in your circle as a real estate investor? Is it your go-to contractor, agent, attorney, business partner... or maybe someone outside of real estate who keeps you grounded?

I am currently learning, networking, and building, and I am super curious about what your "inner circle" looks like when it comes to building and maintaining success in this space.

Would love to hear your thoughts- I know there is wisdom in the mix here!

For me, I keep a tight but powerful crew around me. Here’s who’s essential in my corner:

    • Agent(s) – (I am my own agent. In future, you may consider it valuable to you RE goals) Not just any agent, but investor-savvy ones who know how to analyze deals, not just sell homes.

    • Contractor/Handyman – (I am a general contractor) A reliable contractor is gold. One that shows up, communicates well, and doesn’t inflate prices because you’re an investor.

    • Real Estate Attorney – Especially for creative deals, contract structuring, or if you’re investing out of state. This person protects your blind spots.

    • CPA/Bookkeeper – Real estate can get messy tax-wise. A good CPA who understands real estate will save you thousands.

    • Lender(s) – Both traditional lenders and private money folks. Liquidity is opportunity.

    • Property Manager – Whether I use them or not, it’s good to have one in your circle for scale, referrals, and market insight.

    • Other Investors – Peers who are in the trenches. People you can bounce ideas off of, JV with, or learn from.

    • Mentor or Coach – (I will assist if needed) This doesn’t have to be formal, but someone who’s a few levels ahead of you and willing to pour into your growth.

    • One Realist – That friend or family member who’s outside of real estate but keeps you grounded and calls you out when you’re getting too emotionally attached to a “deal.”

Keep building, stay curious like this, and you’ll attract the right tribe.
